With more people staying at home and social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is easy to get bored. Boredom occurs because we do not feel engaged or excited by the things we are doing. Boredom can also occur as a result of not having the social interactions we typically enjoy, like going out with friends.

If you find that you no longer find enjoyment in certain things you do or find you are just sitting for hours on end, binge-watching TV, and eating tons of junk foods, then you need to do something to address your boredom.

Tip #1: Get up and move around.

Exercise can do wonders for boredom. You don’t have to have exercise equipment or free weights either. You can walk up and down stairs, jog in place, or do some simple stretching and bending exercises to loosen up. You could even do house chores that keep you moving, like dusting and vacuuming.

Tip #2: Connect with others virtually.

Host a virtual gathering of your friends or family once a week. You could play virtual games, all watch the same movie together, or even find a book everyone likes and discuss the book. Even though we cannot be physically together right now, doesn’t mean we cannot still get together virtually.

Tip #3: Start a DIY project.

Have you wanted to remodel your bathroom? Maybe you want to paint the walls a trendy new colour? Spend some time researching the type of project you want to do online. Then, once you are sure it is something you can handle, get to work on it. Be sure to post plenty of before, during, and after pictures on social media too!

Tip #4: Schedule an appointment with a chiropractor.

Part of the reason for boredom could be due to stress, anxiety, pain or discomfort so you don’t feel like doing anything. The results after treatment can be truly remarkable leaving you feeling relaxed, destressed, and full of energy. With all your new-found energy, there will be less time to feel bored.

Tip #5: Change up your meals and snacks.

Most of us fall into the same routine of eating the same meals and snacks week after week. Why not try a new recipe you have wanted to make? Explore other meal options and try some new ones to liven things up. Don’t forget to include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits too!

Tip #6: Get a new pillow.

Boredom can also occur when we are not getting plenty of restful sleep. If you find you are tossing and turning, and waking up with a stiff neck and shoulders, you need a new pillow that provides proper support. Talk to your Brampton chiropractor about what type of pillow would be best for you.

By using one or more of these tips, you are less likely to get bored.
